MEA Pre-Conference Tours and Famils

MEA 2017 is pleased to offer delegates some optional activities in the days prior to the Conference to enhance the whole MEA 2017 experience.  Read below for the short descriptions of the tours and famils, we know you will be excited to see what is on offer.

All bookings will be taken via the Conference registration form and please be aware of the following important details:

  1. There is a small cost of $27.50 associated with the Barangaroo Walking Tour
  2. We are seeking expressions of interest for the famils to Central Coast, Sydney Olympic Park, Wollongong and Newcastle/Port Stephens.  Places to the famils will be decided based on the responses to short surveys to be completed on the Registration Form.

Barangaroo Aboriginal Cultural Tour plus site inspection of the Cutaway

29 April 2.00pm – 3.30pm

Your personal Aboriginal guide will lead you to a better understanding of the people, place, past and present of this incredibly unique harbourside landscape. Through Australia’s ancient past to the present, Barangaroo is a place of spiritual and cultural significance to Aboriginal people.  Join us in a hands-on learning experience of Aboriginal culture, history and lifestyle through landscape, flora, tools and weapons.

The tour will also include a site inspection of Sydney’s newest venue – the Cutaway.  This venue is 5,000m2 and is built under Barangaroo Reserve.  This venue is becoming sought after for dinners, cocktail functions, product launches and public events.

Cost:     $27.50 per person

Casual clothing and comfortable flat shoes.  Bottled water and hat/sunscreen depending on weather conditions.

Sydney Living Museums – tour of historic houses, gardens, museums and event spaces

29 April 2.00pm

Meet your host Damian Poole at the forecourt of the Museum of Sydney, Cnr Bridge & Phillip Streets.  The tour will conclude at 4.00pm and will include afternoon tea at Hyde Park Barracks.  The following venues will be included in the tour:

The Mint
Hyde Park Barracks Museum
Queens Square Sydney

Dress:  Casual clothing and flat comfortable shoes.  Walks between venues are easy (no steep hills).

Port Stephens & Newcastle Pre-Conference Famil Tour Itinerary

Offering a a guided walk along Bondi’s famous coastal headland and discover aboriginal rock carvings, spot marine life and the best viewing points of Bondi and surrounding beaches you will finish up at Coogee Pavillion for a complimentary beverage compliments of Merivale.
